So I know the good old iPotato catches a lot of heat around here, but I wanted to say that with a little care, you can get some great shots from it! I was going through the photos on my old iPotato 4S and found these:

A good driver in a slow car can do a lot more than a bad driver in a fast car. And the same goes for photography, while good equipment can amplify skill, it does not create skill. Both of these were taken with my Droid, but most people would not have guessed that.

If I turn my head to the right, it looks like the cat is casually sitting on a brick floor, pretend-riding a motorcycle. It's a slow day at work.

Care to drop some quick tips for shooting cars with the potato?

I would say 3 things are most important:

1) Lighting. The more the better. Those were taken in bright Florida sun.

2) Steady hand. Any amount of instability really lowers the sharpness, in my experience.

3) Framing. Find the right shot. Phone cams distort shapes a little. I don't like whole car photos because my eye is really sensitive to proportions, especially on cars. Unless I find a great angle, whole car shots seem pudgy to me.

Thanks! Definitely agree that finding a good full car angle with a phone camera is very tough. Keep shooting and posting!

The potato has not much to do with the quality of the photo.

It is all about composition. Learn to use a camera and anyone will make at least good photos. Add a good camera and your pics will be great.
